Customising the User Settings

All customisation is performed through the User Settings drawer of the main Logbook view. Use the User Settings button to show and hide the drawer.

User Settings

These settings are used throughout the application and may have more than one affect.

Name: The person's name to add to the top of reports.

Glucose units: select the units in which you test glucose. Typically the UK uses mmol/L and the US uses mg/dL. This is used as the preset unit when adding new events. It is also the unit that the reports will use: readings in the other unit will be converted for use in the report.

Weight: select the units in which you record weight. Typically the UK uses Kg and the US uses lb. This is used in the reports, and for calculating Body Mass Index (BMI).

Height: select the units in which you record weight. Typically the UK uses cm and the US uses in. This is used in the reports, and for calculating BMI.

Glucose Levels: these set the boundaries to the critical and target levels of glucose. The initial values are set for mmol/L and are not automatically converted when Glucose units is changed: these levels will normally be set by your diabetes medical team.This is used to automatically set the glucose level indicator in the Event Panel and Logbook Table.

The conversion is 1 mmol/L = 18 mg/dL .

Periods: these are used to make it easier to review glucose for different parts of the day. By setting the start and end times for when you begin your pre-meal routine, Diabetes Logbook X will automatically preset the time period for an event as follows

• Earlier than Breakfast Start = Night
  
• Between 'meal' Start and 'meal' End = Before 'meal'
  
• After 'meal' End and before 'next meal' Start = After 'meal'
  
• Later than Bedtime End = Night

Defaults: set preferred insulins and medicine. These are used as presets when adding a new event. Use the 'Edit Lists ...' button to manage the list of insulins, medicines and event types.

Save Settings Now: force a save of the database and user settings to occur immediately.

Managing the Insulin, Medicine and Event name lists

There are three lists that are maintained: insulin, medicine and event type. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to add and delete list items, and double click and item to edit its contents.

Insulins: used to list all type of insulin for both Insulin A and Insulin B, in the Event Panel of the main Logbook view.

Medicines: you may take medicines to help manage diabetes, this list populates the Medicines list in the Event Panel of the main Logbook view. In this example, no medicines are used so it is listing GlucoGel (formerly HypoStop) which is used for serious hypos.

Events: this list enables to keep tags for different event types, such as types of activities, general health and is used in the Event Panel.

There are two event types which are automatically added to the list of events and will add a template text to the Notes field when adding/editing and event, if the Notes field is empty:

1. 'Clinic': the note template is set to help record HbA1c, height, weight, BP and next visit date.
   
2. 'Starting item': the note template is set to help record when starting a new item that has an expiry date, such as ketone strips.

Save Lists & Close: click this button to save the lists and return to the User Settings drawer.
