Here are a few example flowcharts that we developed to help my son's school support him.

The school has held training sessions for the members of staff that will help him, and so they are familiar with the blood glucose meter and using it. A staff member supervises his lunchtime injections [to ensure that the calculated units is correct and that the injection procedure is performed correctly] but my son is the only one that handles the needles and performs his own injections. He has a packed lunch that has the base-level of insulin pre-calculated and a small diary for recording the glucose reading and any correction insulin.

There is also a 'care-plan' that these flowcharts supplement.

Anyway, these might be of use to others - I know our local school nurse is interested in integrating them into a standard pack.

Note: all units are in mmol/l and the actions may needed to be altered to suit individual needs.
